亚航计划将古晋做为航空枢纽,直航伯斯及其它国际航线 [19楼更新]

Group CEO convinced East Malaysia makes good hub, but only if low-cost terminals can be realised
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia has announced plans to reopen Kuching as a hub and to relaunch the Kuching-Perth routh.
Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia Berhad, told reporters that this move was part of their strategy to reestablish Kuching as a regional and international air travel hub and Miri as an alternative to Brunei to make domestic and regional travel more accessible and affordable.
Currently AirAsia, the region’s largest low cost carrier, does not have landing rights in Brunei. Presently, the only direct international flight destination from and to Kuching is Singapore.
He said the move followed the successful launch of its Miri-Singapore route.
Fernandes acknowledged that in the past Kota Kinabalu has received more development but AirAsia is keen to develop Kuching and Miri as well.
He said they were confident that the Kuching-Perth route would receive a good response from the Australian market.
Fernandes also told reporters that the key for developing Kuching as a air travel hub was to have a low-cost terminal as developing new traffic – such as between Kuching and Indonesia – would be crucial for success.
A large part of realising this potential would depend on keeping airport tax and charges low.
The market for air travel is still largely stimulated by lower fares.
Fernandes pointed out that AirAsia’s success in establishing the Miri-Singapore route would not have been possible if the airport tax in Miri had not been reduced to RM25 from RM51.
He also voiced his concern that recent efforts by certain parties to hinder the development of more low cost terminals would lead to East Malaysia not realising its potential to be regional travel hubs.

近期频繁增加航班的动机显示了亚航已经将古晋视为航空枢纽之一了。。。
至少新加坡古晋的航班做的不错。。。KK新加坡就没那么幸运了,之前虎航退出,现在连捷星也让步了。。。 |

不是吧!古晋这种鸟不拉屎的地理位置?跟航空枢纽好像扯不上边叻!会不会是国阵和东尼合演一部“捞票剧”??互惠互利??

记得n年前亚航不是已经提过要在古晋做lcct吗?
听说设计klia2的工程设计师也在设计古晋的lcct。。
希望快点实现咯,好想有直飞台湾的航班哦。。 |

料容纳逾10架客机 亚航拟建晋廉航总站
(本报古晋15日讯)亚航计划在古晋兴建60英亩的廉价航空总站,唯目前尚未获得大马机场控股有限公司的明确回应。
据了解,亚航准备的廉价航空总站计划书其实已在2007年拟好,但却在呈交至大马航空控股有限公司时遭到拖延,造成兴建计划没法顺利进行。
亚航集团首席执行员拿督斯里东尼费南德斯表示,虽然该计划一直得到砂州政府的支持,尤其是砂州首长丕显斯里泰益玛目及第一副首长拿督巴丁宜丹斯里陈康南医生的大力支持,偏偏申请过程到大马机场控股的手上时却毫无进展。
总站地点最具策略性
“我们所建议的廉价航空总站地点乃是最具策略性的地点,而且该地区也急需重新整治及改造,以迎合市场上未来的需求。”
他呼吁相关部门,尤其是大马机场控股,重新考虑该计划的可行性,并尽早批准兴建廉价航空总站。
文告显示,计划中的古晋廉价航空总站地理位置与古晋国际机场毗邻,并占地约24公顷。一旦该计划获得通过,预料该机场可容纳超过10架新客机,同时也方便该公司开辟新的国际航线。
