CIMB Research cut its target price for palm oil firm Indofood Agri Resources to $1.55 from $1.82 and kept its ‘outperform’ rating, citing weak quarterly core earnings due to high estate costs and lower rubber earnings.

By 9:08 a.m., Indofood Agri shares fell 2.8% to $1.225, and have dropped 3.2% since the start of the year, compared to a 20% loss in the FTSE ST Consumer Goods Index.

Indofood Agri’s third quarter net profit rose 22% to $35 million from a year ago, lifted by higher sales volume of palm products and contribution from sugar operations.

However, CIMB said its core net profit for July-September fell 24% to 242 rupiah from a year ago as higher costs and inventories offset stronger sugar earnings.

The broker noted that Indofood said it is keeping its 2012 crude palm oil production target of 890,000-900,000 tonnes, suggesting a strong fourth quarter output, which could help lift sales.

印多福农业(Indofood Agri Resources)已提议收购巴西甘蔗公司Companhia Mineira de Açúcar e álcool Participações(CMAA)的50%股权。CMAA主要是从事甘蔗种植与加工，以生产和营销乙醇及糖，它同时也从甘蔗渣提供废热发电。目前，CMAA在Vale do Tijuco拥有一座厂房，其总压榨年产能为300万公吨，产能可提高至380万公吨。作为这项交易的一部分，印多福已于新加坡设立一家子公司IFAR Brazil，后者进而在巴西成立Indofood Barzil Participações Ltda公司。而巴西印多福(IndoAgri Brazil)和JF Citrus Agropecuária Ltda的子公司已和两个买家ZAM Ventures LP及Fundo de Investimento em Participações PCP签署了最终协议。

启示：通过上述收购，印多福将能够把其业务拓展至巴西的糖与乙醇业。这将从而加强其多元化的种植业务模式。

Indofood Agri's Brazil sugar buy positive: CIMB

CIMB is positive on Indofood Agri's (5JS.SG) acquisition of 50% in Brazil sugar mill and estates player CMAA for around US$71.7 million ($88.6 million).

"We believe that the acquisition will boost future earnings and help the group to partially shed its image as merely a holding company of SIMP (SIMP.JK)."

It expects the acquisition will allow the group to expand into Brazil's sugar and ethanol businesses and boost its earnings base.

"We continue to favor the stock due to its attractive valuations in terms of assets."

It rates the stock at Outperform with $1.51 target. The stock is down 0.4% at $1.32.

印多福农业(Indofood Agri Resources)在截至2013年3月31日的首季录得净利从3,769亿印尼盾(4,800万元)下跌71.7%至1,068亿印尼盾(1,350万元)。主要原因是主要农作物的价格回落、种植园刚刚成熟令生产成本提高及营运开支上升。收入微跌3.2%至3万1,000亿印尼盾，由于原棕油销量的增幅及糖产品的正面销售贡献因主要农作物的平均售价下降及食用油销售下滑而被大幅度抵消。毛利从1Q12的1万1,000亿印尼盾下跌41.9%至6,000亿印尼盾，由于主要农产品的售价回落及生产成本提高，但部份跌幅因食用油和油脂部门及制糖业务的利润提高而被抵消。

启示：公司的主要农作物油棕、棕榈仁及橡胶的售价均回落与农产品价格普遍回落的趋势相符。公司预期在5月份的制糖农作物收成将有助缓解棕油价格回落所带来的冲击。

Indofood Agri Resources, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s largest food producer, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, is planning to issue medium-term notes of up to $500 million in Singapore, Bisnis Indonesia reported.

Director Mark Julian Wakeford said that the company plans to use the funds for working capital and other needs. The company has secured a principle approval from the Singapore bourse.
