(NASDAQ: AVID), announced that theyhave signed a definitive agreement for Autodesk to acquiresubstantially all of the assets of Avid’s Softimage business unit forapproximately $35 million.Softimage was founded in 1986 byDaniel Langlois and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Softimagedevelops 3D technology for the film, television and games markets. Itsflagship product is SOFTIMAGE|XSI, an extensible 3D animation softwaresolution used by leading media and entertainment companies, includingDigital Domain, Ubisoft, SEGA Corporation, CAPCOM, Animal Logic and TheMill. Autodesk Media & Entertainment provides animation, visualeffects, editing/finishing and color grading solutions for the 3Dmarket, including entertainment and design industries.
“Softimagehas been developing state-of-the-art 3D technology for more than 20years, and its products are recognized as best-of-breed in theentertainment industry,” said Marc Petit, senior vice president,Autodesk Media & Entertainment. “Upon the completion of thisacquisition we will be adding Softimage technology and products to ourportfolio, and welcoming one of the most talented teams in the industryto Autodesk Media & Entertainment. Both will help us accelerate thework of our Games Technology Group, as we build the next-generation ofreal-time, interactive 3D authoring tools for games, film andtelevision.”
Gary Greenfield, CEO and chairman of AvidTechnology, added: “We are excited about what this transaction meansfor customers of Softimage.  The Softimage 3D product line hasperformed well in the video games market, a sector where Autodesk has atrack record of success.  Autodesk will provide a great home for thebusiness.”

Autodesk用3500万美元将Softimage收购

Autodesk刚刚买下了Softimage！
Autodesk和Avid正式宣布他们已经签署了Autodesk购买Avid旗下Softimage业务部门的协议。
购买金额约为3500万美元。

　　“我们在几个月前就已经透露过Softimage业务部门将在未来的某一天被收购。”Softimage相关负责人说道。早在洛杉矶的SIGGRAPH 会议之前我们就已经开始商讨此事。大家都清楚的知道，这两家在日益发展的公司所开发的产品非常相似。所以将两家公司合并在一起定能创造出更好的收益。并且，现在游戏产业正在扩展之中，所以我们会很好的运用两家公司的共同点来将这个部分运行的更为强大。

　　与此同时，Softimage和Autodesk的相关负责人向广大用户保证：在Softimage生产线上的所有产品将会继续开发。以确保给用户更多的选择权。

　　Daniel Langlois在1986年创立了Softimage，其总部位于加拿大的蒙特利尔。Softimage为影视和游戏市场开发了许多3D科技。

如果 Google Sketchup 被没收。。。。

Adobe那么强，我觉得不会被收购，反而觉得他们两个打孖上是种趋势。
用户对他们的依靠，就好比Microsoft + Intel一样。
双A的世界，早就慢慢在侵蚀用户了……

P/S：Adobe和Autodesk的双A很强，什么时候轮到AMD+ati的双A强？

说的是。。。可能最后adobe和google会跟autodesk分庭抗礼。。。google只有收购人，没有被人家收购的例子啦。。。

绝对是不好的事情，因为没有了竞争力哪来的进步...
被收购，看来应该是利益为上吧，谁不想分一杯羹呢？

不要卖的太贵就好了，每年update一下，赚来的都飞走了

因为photoshop 阿猫阿狗都在用， 而3d 却不是人人懂
