KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Malaysia's Islamic opposition party hasurged the government to cancel a concert by Avril Lavigne, saying the Canadian singer's on-stage moves are "too sexy," an official said Monday.

                        Lavigne,a Grammy-nominated rock singer who burst to fame with her 2002 debutalbum "Let's Go," plans to start her monthlong Asia tour with aperformance in Kuala Lumpur on Aug. 29.
The youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said Lavigne'sconcert would promote wrong values ahead of Malaysia's Aug. 31independence day.
"It is considered too sexy for us. ... It's not good for viewers inMalaysia," said Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party official. "We don't wantour people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We wantclean artists, artists that are good role models."
Kamarulzaman said he sent a protest letter to the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry and the Kuala Lumpur mayor last week, calling for the concert to be canceled.
An official from the Culture Ministry's department that vets allforeign artists said the government has not given permission for theconcert yet. The department is to meet Tuesday to decide on theorganizer's application, which was received last week.
The official declined to be named because she is not authorized to make public statements.
A spokesman for the concert's organizer, Galaxy Group, denied that Lavigne's show had any "negative elements."
The spokesman, who declined to be named citing protocol, said hiscompany was confident of receiving the permit as feedback fromauthorities so far had been "very positive."
Malaysiarequires all performers to wear clothes without obscene or drug-relatedimages and be covered from chest to knees. They must also refrain fromjumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage.
Still, members of PAS and other conservative Muslims often protestWestern and even Malaysian music shows that they deem to beinappropriate.
Last year, pop singer Gwen Stefani made what she called "a major sacrifice" by donning clothes that revealed little skin at a performance here.
Also last year, Christina Aguilera skipped Malaysia during an Asian tour that included neighboring Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, while R&B superstar Beyonce scratched a planned concert here, moving it to Indonesia.
A Pussycat Dolls concert in 2006 was fined 10,000 ringgit (US$2,857) after the U.S. girl group was accused of flouting decency regulations.

PETALING JAYA: Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne's show is definitely on.
Despite protests and an attempt to call for the singer to be
banned from performing in Malaysia by PAS Youth earlier this month, organiser Galaxy Group said yesterday the show would go on.“Everything is moving very positively. We have spoken to the authorities involved and things look good,” a spokesman for the organiser told The Star.
He said the concert here would meet local rules and regulations.
“We've organised the show according to the rules. There is nothing wrong. We've received positive and assuring feedback from the authorities,” he said.
Earlier, the Federal Territory PAS Youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed had called for Avril’s concert to be banned on grounds that “rock and punk are not suitable for the young generation, especially so during the Merdeka month.”
The wing came under fire after it attempted to call for the ban which many sectors called ridiculous and narrow-minded.
Some of those who lashed out at PAS Youth included activist groups, local veteran artistes, Commercial Radio Malaysia (an association of local radio stations), Recording Industry Association of Malaysia, Malaysian Artistes Association and Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

（吉隆坡15日讯）一小撮反对声浪，导致加拿大籍创作才女歌手艾薇儿大马演唱会申请受阻，吉隆坡市政厅今日证实，当局至今为止尚未决定发出场馆演出准证给制作单位。

艾薇儿大马演唱会制造单位在本月11日正式向隆市政厅提呈准证申请，不过，市政厅至今暂搁这项申请，原因是市政厅正等待电影摄制和外国艺人表演申请机构（Puspal）及警方的建议。

原定在本月29日在武吉加里尔布特拉室内体育馆热烈引爆的艾薇儿大马演唱会，基于受到回教党青年团的反对，导致其演唱会申请过程受阻。

吉隆坡市长拿督哈晋柏汉今日受询时向媒体说，如果电影摄制和外国艺人表演申请机构及警方许可，市政厅就会发出场馆演出准证。

他强调，市政厅目前还在等待上述两个单位的批文，如果两单位没问题，市政厅当然也不会阻止。

接回青团反对备忘录

市长也承认当局接获回教党青年团的反对备忘录。该党是以艾薇儿的庞克及性感形象，以及演出日期太过接近国庆日而做出反对。

哈晋柏汉星期五上午是在吉隆坡市政厅广场移交辉煌条纹给51个政经文教团体后，记者会上这样指出。

市长认为，艾薇儿演唱会的演出日期可能是问题所在，这就好比游艺场（funfair）一样，其性质并无问题，但如果举办时间是在学校考试期内，肯定就会惹来家长的不满。

他重申当局至今没有任何决定，一切待有关单位批文下来再谈。

                        （吉隆坡）大馬藝人協會嚴厲批評回教黨聯邦直轄區青年團呼吁禁止艾薇兒在大馬開演唱會之後，國內更多活躍團體也挺身聲援藝人協會。
婦援組織：道德觀非演唱會能塑造
婦女援助組織執行董事艾維佐西亞說，一個社會的道德和價值觀，並非是一場演唱會或音樂會就能夠塑造出來。
她說，一些人試圖製造制止或禁止人們自由表達的權利，在我國的民主社會是不能令人接受的。
“這雖然關係到禮儀，可是這是人們自由表達的權利，尤其是年輕人，有權利去選擇看和聽。”
直轄區回青團團長卡馬魯查曼上週六（9日）向吉隆坡市長拿督阿都哈京和團結、文化、藝術與文物部呈交備忘錄，促請當局取消艾薇兒在首都的演唱會。
回青團認為，回青團作出是項請願是因為搖滾和龐客文化並不適合年輕人，特別是演唱會是在國慶月舉行。
諾哈雅蒂：侵犯非回教徒權利
另一方面，回教姐妹組織節目策劃總監諾哈雅蒂受詢時也斥責回教黨，並質問回教黨在競選期間的承諾。
“回教黨說過很多次，指它不曾侵犯非回教徒在現實中享有的權利，可是事實上他們卻這樣做。”
“它們呼吁禁唱是不是只限回教徒或所有人？而回教黨也是民聯的結盟成員之一，那公正黨和行動黨在這課題的立場是甚麼？”
她說，看起來似乎只有回教黨在做所有決定，這是否有列入民聯的競選宣言內？
她也促請回教黨，把焦點放在更大的問題如城市貧窮課題

一些人，打著宗教的名義，指這名歌手形象不佳，不符宗教要求，要求當局禁止演唱會，否則將採取行動云云。
大馬是法治社會，或者說，目前還被認為是法治社會，針對演唱會，有一定的規定，包括不能傷風敗俗，不能裸露身體，不能鼓吹吸毒濫交……。
只要沒有違反規定，就是合法的演唱會。
誰能夠在這些法令規定之外，再加入本身的規定？
誰能夠在法令之外，施加本身的道德標準？
是的，就是這些人。
政府允許他們干預法律，他們的發言權高過其它人，以致可以否定別人舉辦演唱會，以及剝奪欣賞演唱會的權利。
就在上個月，他們成功的迫使Inul Darista，印尼的著名dangdut歌手，取消了大馬演唱會。
主辦者拿到了准證，賣了門票，也付了演唱酬勞；結果，只因這群人威脅說，準備展示他們的“力量”，政府部門嚇破了膽，以“安全威脅”的理由，硬是逼主辦者取消。
誰是合法，誰是違法，已經置之不理。
再一次，懲罰了合法者，獎勵違法者。
