浴佛功德经
大唐沙门释义净译
如是我闻。
一时薄伽梵在王舍城鹫峰山顶。与大苾刍众千二百五十人俱。复有无量无边大菩萨众天龙八部悉皆云集。尔时清净慧菩萨在众中坐。为欲愍念诸有情故。作是思惟。诸佛如来以何因缘。得清净身相好具足。复作是念。诸众生类得值如来亲近供养。所获福报无量无边。未知如来般涅槃后。所有众生作何供养修何功德。令彼善根速能
究竟无上菩提。作是念已。即从座起偏袒右肩。顶礼佛足长跪合掌白佛言。世尊。我欲请问愿垂听许。佛言。善男子。随汝所问我当为说。尔时清净慧菩萨白佛言。诸佛如来应正等觉。以何因缘得清净身相好具足。又诸众生得值如来亲近供养。所获福报无量无边。未审如来般涅槃后。所有众生作何供养修何功德。令彼善根速能究竟无上菩提
尔时世尊告清净慧菩萨言。善哉善哉。汝能为彼未来众生发如是问。汝今谛听。善思念之。如说修行。吾当为汝分别解说。清净慧菩萨言。唯然世尊。愿乐欲闻
佛告清净慧菩萨言。善男子。应知布施持戒忍辱精进静虑智慧。慈悲喜舍。解脱解脱知见。力无所畏。一切佛法一切种智善清净故。如来清净。若于如是诸佛如来。以清净心种种供养。香花璎珞幡盖敷具。布在佛前种种严饰。上妙香水澡浴尊仪。烧香普熏运心法界。复以饮食鼓乐弦歌。赞咏如来不共功德。发殊胜愿回向无上一切智海。所生功德无量无边。乃至菩提常令相续。所以者何。如来福智不可思议无数无等。善男子。诸佛世尊具有三身。谓法身受用身化身。我涅槃后。若欲供养此三身者。当供养舍利。然有二种。一者身骨舍利二者法颂舍利。即说颂曰
诸法从缘起如来说是因彼法因缘尽是大沙门说
若男子女人苾刍五众应造佛像。若无力者下至大如麸夫黄麦。造窣睹波形如枣许。刹竿如针。盖如麸片。舍利如芥子。或写法颂安置其中。如上珍奇而为供养。随己力能至诚殷重。如我现身等无有异。善男子。若有众生。能作如是胜供养者。成就十五殊胜功德而自庄严。一者常有惭愧。二者发净信心。三者其心质直。四者亲近善友。五者入无漏慧。六者常见诸佛。七者恒持正法。八者能如说行。九者随意当生净佛国土。十者若生人中大姓尊贵人所敬奉生欢喜心。十一者生在人中自然念佛。十二者诸魔军众不能损恼。十三者能于末世护持正法。十四者十方诸佛之所加护。十五者速得成就五分法身。尔时世尊即说颂曰
我般涅槃后 能供养舍利或造窣睹波 及以如来像
于彼像塔处 涂拭曼荼罗以种种香华 散布于其上
以净妙香水 灌沐于像身上味诸饮食 尽持以供养
赞叹如来德 无量难思议方便智神通 速至于彼岸
获得金刚身 具三十二相八十随形好 济度诸群生
尔时清净慧菩萨闻是颂已。白佛言。未来众生云何浴像。佛告清净慧菩萨言。汝等当于如来起正念心。勿着二边迷于空有。于诸善品渴仰无厌。三解脱门善修智慧。常求出离勿住生死。于诸众生起大慈悲。愿得速成三种身故。善男子。我已为汝说四真谛十二缘生六波罗蜜。今更为汝及诸国王王子大臣后宫妃后天龙人鬼说浴像法。诸供养中最为第一。胜以恒河沙等七宝布施。若浴像时。应以牛头栴檀。白檀紫檀沈水。熏陆郁金香。龙脑香。零陵藿香等。于净石上磨作香泥。用为香水置净器中。于清净处以好土作坛。或方或圆随时大小。上置浴床中安佛像。灌以香汤净洁洗沐。重浇清水。所用之水皆须净泸勿使损虫。其浴像水两指沥取安自顶上。名吉祥水。泻于净地莫令足踏。以细软巾拭像令净。烧诸名香周遍香馥安置本处。善男子。由作如是浴佛像故。能令汝等人天大众。现受富乐无病延年。于所愿求无不遂意。亲友眷属悉皆安隐。长辞八难永出苦源。不受女身速成正觉。既安置已。更烧诸香亲对像前。虔诚合掌。而说赞曰
我今灌沐诸如来净智功德庄严聚
愿彼五浊众生类速证如来净法身
戒定慧解知见香遍十方刹常芬馥
愿此香烟亦如是无量无边作佛事
亦愿三涂苦轮息悉令除热得清凉
皆发无上菩提心永出爱河登彼岸
佛说此经已。是时众中有无量无边菩萨。得无垢三昧。无量诸天得不退智。诸声闻众愿求佛果。八万四千众生。皆发阿耨多罗三藐三菩提心
尔时清净慧菩萨白佛言。世尊。幸蒙大师哀愍。我等教浴像法。我今劝化国王大臣一切信心乐功德者。于日日中澡沐尊仪获大利益。常当顶受欢喜奉行.

浴佛節是為了紀念佛陀的誕生。在三千多年前，摩耶夫人夢見六牙白象從右脅進入，因而懷有身孕。
十個月後，夫人於回娘家待產的途中，於藍毗尼園，看到微妙芳香的無憂樹，便舉起右手攀扶，這時世尊即從右脅降生到世間，並且向四方各走七步，腳下步步均生大蓮花；然後一手指天、一手指地說：「天上天下，唯我獨尊。」（「我」指眾生本具的佛性）
此時大地震動，天女散花，四天王以十二種香湯、名花灌沐太子金身，九龍亦從上而下吐水，一溫一涼為佛沐浴，人天無不歡欣鼓舞，因為世尊的到來，為三界熱惱的眾生，帶來無比清涼的佛法，更為迷失的眾生找到一條解脫之道。

佛说四十二章经解

【世尊成道已，作是思惟：离欲寂静，是最为胜。住大禅定，降诸魔道。于鹿野苑中，转四谛法轮，度憍陈如等五人而证道果。复有比丘所说诸疑，求佛进止。世尊教敕，一一开悟。合掌敬诺，而顺尊敕。】

初文，‘世尊’者，即我释迦牟尼如来。乃天中之天、圣中之圣，于一切器世间、一切众生世间、一切正觉世间，独称尊也。
‘成道’者，若论世尊，实成佛道以来，已经不可说微尘数劫，如法华经寿量品中所明。
今为此土有缘众生，故于过去人寿二万岁时，迦叶佛会，示居补处位中。上生兜率内院，以净天眼，观可化机。
直至人寿百岁时，机缘方熟，乃示降神于中印度迦维卫国。父名净饭，母名摩耶。处胎十月，从左胁生。一手指天，一手指地，目顾四方，周行七步。自言：天上天下，惟吾独尊。
次复示为童子，遍学众艺，无不超伦。至年二十九岁，游城四门，睹老病死及沙门相，决志出家。
子夜踰城，金刀剃发，尽弃珍饰，披树神所献麻衣，游学诸国。先从阿蓝迦蓝习无所有处定，不久得证。知非究竟，舍之而去。
次从郁头蓝子习非想非非想处定，亦不久得证。知非究竟，舍之而去。
见诸外道，竞修苦行，希冀得道，各以三年为期，终无克获。将欲度之，遂往雪山，示修六年苦行。每日止食一麻一麦，皮骨连立，终不成道，乃舍苦行。
受牧女十六转乳糜之供，精气充足。次往熙连河中，浴身而出。
取天帝释化现童子所施吉祥草，诣摩竭提国金刚场菩提树下，敷草结跏趺坐。以慈心三昧，降伏魔军，深入四禅，观察四谛。
于腊月初八夜，明星出时，豁然大悟，证无漏道，是为佛宝初现世间也。
